Sources and methodology
Where the facts come from
I use primary sources first and say which source each article relies on. The main ones:
- Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901 (Türk Vatandaşlığı Kanunu), published in the Official Gazette on 12 June 2009, current text on the official legislation portal of the Presidency.
- Article 20 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law, which sets the investment routes and the documents for the file, as reproduced in an official English text published by the Konya investment support office.
- Invest in Türkiye, the investment office of the Presidency: acquiring property and citizenship and obtaining a residence permit.
- Presidency of Migration Management (Göç İdaresi): residence permit types and conditions.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye: visa rules that apply to Turkish citizens, in Turkish.
- General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs (Nüfus ve Vatandaşlık İşleri), the body that runs citizenship services.
- Practice notes, timelines and rule changes published by BRIDGES on its pages about Turkish citizenship by investment and the residence permit through property. When I rely on BRIDGES data, I say so.
How I check and date information
- Each article shows an "Updated" date. It changes only when the facts are reviewed, not for cosmetic edits.
- Rules are quoted as they stand in the law and the regulation on the date of review. Where a figure comes from practice rather than the law, such as a typical timeline, I say whose figure it is.
- I do not publish client stories, approval rates or statistics I cannot verify, and I leave out fees and numbers that I could not confirm.
How often the guides are updated
All articles are reviewed at least once a quarter, and immediately after a change to the investment thresholds, the valuation rules of the Land Registry or the citizenship regulation.
